Guy Jaffe is the principal of The Dental Marketplace in St. Louis. Mr. Jaffe has been appraising and selling dental practice exclusively since 1987. Previously Mr. Jaffe was head of his own commercial real estate development and management firm and has served as Director of Community and Economic Development for the state of Missouri. Mr. Jaffe is a member of Practice Valuation Study Group, a national organization dedicated to improving professional practice valuations. He is past president of American Dental Sales, the largest network of dental practice brokers in the United States. Mr. Jaffe is a director of Metropolitan Capital Bank in Chicago.

The practice grosses over $500,000 while I only work 175 days per year. There are four treatment rooms and an excellent staff consisting of a receptionist, two assistants and 6 days of hygiene per week. We are a predominantly fee for service practice which has shown growth despite the economy. We have three day weekends, vacations and holidays off. There are excellent specialists in the area which allows us to refer all ortho, non-hygiene perio, difficult oral surgery and most endo (all of which would provide immediate additional income to a capable dentist willing to work more). My practice is an adult oriented practice that is geared to restorative dentistry. Our practice model has been to see smaller numbers of patients so that we can truly get to know them and guide them to total health. A strong emphasis of preventing disease and restoring the patient to optimal health at their desired pace is the basis of our model. We emphasize being thorough and open with all procedures.
I have not become involved with any insurance plans primarily because I wish the patient to make sound decisions for themselves without insurance guidelines. So you will not find any PPO contracts or any other insurance plans interfering with our patient-dentist relation.
I do spend lots of time with my patients. I try to know them and treat them with integrity and love. Our practice is filled with long term patients who have a high level of trust for us. The satisfaction I have received from these people is not quantifiable in dollars. But my patients have been very good to me financially. This has allowed us to work fewer hours and to take time for CE and family. This is a great place to come to each day.
